This newsletter falls between 2 significant days - ANZAC Day and Mothers Day - so with that in mind we have a few special things to share that will put a smile on your face.
While we were in Sydney last week, we captured a few conversations Ethan had with his Great-Grandparents - this short video about WW2 was entirely Ethan's questions... not knowing where the conversation would go, we were moved by what they discussed. Grandad made the understatement of the century and unknowingly gave a great clue to happiness.
If you haven't seen it and want to hear his description of his "lovely foxholes" and great mates, click the play button below
If no video appears click here to view it.
Lessons from a WW2 Veteran... Grandad has always been a happy person and I realised why when I watched him talking to Ethan. When discussing the war, Grandad said "We don't remember that (the negative)... We remember the fella's we went with... we looked after each other, and had a friendship that grew out of that... you depended so much on your mates."
So there's some thoughts for today, to think about the best things and watch them develop...
And thinking ahead to Mothers Day; I've been encouraged to share an article I wrote, first published in Regional Business Magazine... It begins with a focus on inspiring country women, but it really speaks of the potential in all the beautiful women in our world. If you see these qualities in those around you, please acknowledge them for it, and you will begin to see more of the qualities you identify. Again - what you focus on grows. (Don't miss our Mothers Day bonus below!)
Have a fantastic week, stay inspired and focused,
(And if you're in Melbourne on Friday - let us know! We're arriving early afternoon and have time for good coffee and great conversations.)

How does mindset affect what people do?
Basically all of my clients report that their most outstanding achievements have been a direct result of a small shift in thinking. That's where it all starts! Thinking differently generally means thinking more positively, as our brains naturally tend toward the negative. Anyone can teach themselves to be more positive, which is an exciting thing, because when you are more positive you are more creative and can find solutions more easily. You can create incredible changes by just changing focus, just as a small course adjustment for a ship can take you to a completely continent to the one you first imagined.
When you want to think more positively and creatively you don't need to work your brain harder! Just cheer it up! Happy thoughts lead to creative thoughts, which lead to outstanding solutions, so we've come up with a few ways to get started... This list can be revisted and added to countless times. Enjoy!
Here's 10 great ways to support your “focus on the positive” and change your brain
- Play a song that puts a bounce in your step and a smile on your face… we’ve been listening to “Walking on Sunshine” and “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” while creating this newsletter...
- Write in your journal, notebook, scrap of paper… What’s fabulous right now?
- List 10 things you’re grateful for
- Talk to other positive people
- Create a vision board. For tips on creating a vision board Click Here.
- Tell someone you appreciate them, and why
- Whistle or sing
- Post inspiring quotes near your workspace, in your wallet, car, anywhere you’ll see them
- Watch a funny video – Lyndon cracks up every time he watches this one
- Make others smile (if you have 15 minutes to watch this you’ll be smiling every time you remember it)
This month I bring you something a little out of the ordinary… I was inspired by Leanne, a country girl who is all of these things: resilient, imaginative, creative and hardworking, (and more…) and my darling mother, who came from the city life of Sydney to a farm at Gilgandra 40 years ago, and is an incredible support to family and friends, and the occasional cow in labour. Words cannot express my gratitude – but let’s have a go anyway…
This is not the story of one or even two women, but countless. They are in your community, perhaps even in your home.
She rises while it is still dark, to provide food for her household…* She brings the sheep in for shearing, then heads off to town to work for a “regular” income. She shops to re-stock the pantry, making sure there’s always enough for unexpected visitors and shearers smoko, and comes home to find her husband tearing his hair out over the sheep who’ve busted out again and are being chased by over-excited young dogs.
She spends the next day cutting burrs, cooking up a storm, balancing books, and feeding the chooks, horses, sheep and cattle. Her husband comes in around 10pm for dinner and sits down, filthy, exhausted and appreciative of all her expressions of love, although he doesn’t say so nearly as often as he thinks it.
She’s imaginative, hopeful and encouraging. She knows the current challenge is not forever and chooses to learn and grow in the tough seasons. When the pressure is on she is more focused, determined and resourceful, and creates her own success. She understands that she creates her own reality and chooses her thoughts and words with care.
Her honesty, compassion and commitment to others is inspiring. She is fabulous, She is creative, She is integral to the success of her community, therefore a significant contributor to our nation.
It is my hope that that women everywhere are reminded of their value, that it’s who you are. The difference you make in your family and community may not often be acknowledged, but is very much appreciated and oh-so-important. Thank you.

Want the perfect gift for Mothers Day?
My hairdresser was telling me that she writes in her Create the Life Journal most evenings with her 8 year old daughter and it’s a really special time for them both. Other mum’s I know are using it themselves to write about their goals, their significant moments, sometimes moments that seem “normal” but might be significant one day, things they’re grateful for etc. A mum I spoke to on the weekend journals to unlock her creativity. All of these women (and the men who write too) report increased clarity, focus and happiness.
One of my friends Hannah said “I like myself more when I journal!”
Because it’s Mothers Day soon and we want to spoil our Mum’s we’re sharing the excitement with you – For every journal ordered we’ll enclose a $5 Coffee voucher for a great café near you! (or near your mum… Café voucher depends on your location) Don't miss out!
