Thanks for Celebrating!
Friday, August 29th, 2008

Launch parties are fun! Okay, any kind of party I’m involved in usually is, if I may say so myself…

Friends, clients and local members of Create the Life Club gathered at Stephens Patisserie last night for 90 minutes of networking, eating and drinking (of course) and hearing from a few people who are passionate about learning, growing and sharing the adventure.

Award winning business owner, Mark Crutcher shared his inspiring story, of going from huge financial pressure to owning 3 successful IGA supermarkets today, weaving in his life lessons in beautifully.

Some of his tips were - Attitude is everything! The impact of no longer blaming others but taking responsibility is enormous – and don’t take on a negative mindset of people around you!

Big thanks to Karen Saunders from Clarity 4 Business (along with a big high-five), Shelley Stephens from Stephen’s Patisserie, IT West, and Western Student Connections and Mark of course, for all their support in making it a great night.

Special thanks to each member who attended - we loved having you there!

Create Time For You
Friday, August 8th, 2008

Welcome to new members this week! I’m wondering what great content you’ve been finding on the site.

There is so much to discover, and we’ll use the blog to highlight some of our favourites. Check out Andrew May’s “How To Be On When You Have To” as he knocks the Multitasking Myth on it’s head and shows you how to create more time for yourself…

Andrew says “Most of us have developed bad “e-mail etiquette” because of the sheer convenience of the medium and the fact that we haven’t taken time out to think about how we can control, rather than be controlled by this tool. Ingrained habits are difficult to change but the first thing in acquiring more productive habits is awareness.”

He also discusses the value of going slow… we need the go-slow times to re-energise for the fast pace. This has been a challenge for me to learn over the past few years, but I must be learning well. I’ve just been through my calendar for the next few months and marked days or half days off on either side of business trips. That felt really good! Even when you love what you do, it’s essential to switch off at times… Create the time for yourself… if you don’t plan it, it will get taken up with something else!

This weekend I’m switching off and enjoying the Olympics… what inspirational people our athletes are… will I switch off or find myself inspired to write articles?

Today I have an announcement to make regarding some of the Audio content on the Create the Life Club website - namely material by John C. Maxwell.

After being given permission to add specific Audio’s to our websites, a decision was made by Mr Maxwell’s head office in the United States to supply us with NEW content.

As the material they original gave us is from 2005, they asked us to remove the content we had up and replace it with more recent material.

Now they have just sent us SIX NEW Audios, so we are aiming to review all of them by this Friday and then put them up onto the website shortly thereafter.

While it is a shame to lose what is some excellent material the upside is that they have committed to supplying us with one NEW Audio every month, which is a big positive.

I am really looking forward to getting this new material to you as John C. Maxwell is one of my favorites and as soon as it is available I will let you know.
